The Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is designed to trap harmful pollutants from the exhaust so that they don’t get into the atmosphere.

DPFs can get clogged up with sooty deposits and if the deposits aren’t removed, they eventually harden and this can cause problems with the performance of your car.

• that you need to use more fuel
• the power of the engine seems less than before
• the DPF light is illuminated in the dash
